About

My name is Dylan Guthrie, and I have been playing piano since 2005. Starting my piano studies at the age of 11, I was a late bloomer by many standards. My passion for classical music and piano, however, inspired me work very hard to succeed. I graduated from Austin College in 2017 with a B.A. in Music. Since then, I have enjoyed a variety of musical endeavors. Though I primarily teach, I also accompany soloists ranging in age from middle schoolers to college students, and I play each Sunday at a church. Music is my life, and I want to spread my love for it to others.

I love teaching! Seeing a student break through a barrier they’ve been facing is so rewarding. I am equally at home both with children, adults and anybody in between. With kids, I love giving them a strong foundation through proper technique that can be built upon over time. I hope through lessons and practice to teach them discipline and perseverance as well, because piano isn’t easy! With adults, while I enjoy the same aspects as with children, I love getting to work with them in a more casual and fun way. I especially appreciate the willingness and risks an adult takes in learning a new, difficult hobby later in life.
